Throughout our lives we’ll encounter friendships; some may be stronger than others. We mainly make friends in school and work; however, the true friends are the ones that remain after these situations or events. They’re the type of friendships that will stay with you forever.
The Meaning of Friendship
Personally, I think the meaning of friendship is the way you believe in your friends, this may apply to their decisions and success, as long as you’re not being too ‘braggy’ about what you’ve achieved, your friends should cheer you on and in return you should be able to do the same with them. This way, you are showing an equal relationship with each other. In the end, friends are here to support you and help when you need it most.
When having an argument with a friend, it doesn’t mean you have to break-up the friendship as if it was nothing. Good friends will forgive and forget and will try and make amends, a true friendship can survive come what may. In the past I have had “friends” who could drop me easily, it was hard to move on but thankfully I did; making stronger friendships with other people. True friends will accept you for simply being YOU, and not being judgemental. The signs of having a ‘Toxic Friendship’ are when they put you down; make you feel bad constantly; they’re always blaming you, never feeling your pain, they only come to you when it best suits them; there’s a lot of drama between you two; they are judgemental and can drop you as a friend easily. If you find that you have a toxic friend, ask yourself “is this really healthy?”. It may be hard to deal with at first but try and talk to them about the way they’re treating you, and if they’re not willing to treat you better then it may be best to part ways, it’s okay to tell them, you are allowed to have happiness.
Is friendship important? And how to keep it going
Friendship is very important, as it can mould you as a person and it will make you feel happier. If you or a friend moves away you can still keep the friendship going by making an effort, talk to them over social media and (if not too far) meet up with them over the holidays.
