Sustainable Stationery

Sustainable Stationery

Whilst it’s important to not be wasteful, and try to minimize our consumerism of paper notebooks and plastic pens, its also important to study hard. I personally always find that having a nice, small collection of pretty stationery knick-knacks really motivates me to study harder. So, I thought it would be useful to share some places that you can buy really nice stationery, for affordable prices, that will also last a long time, to reduce your consumption of stationery products, and keep the environment happy as well as your studying sessions!

One of my favourite places to go for pens is Paperchase. Whilst they aren’t the cheapest pens in the world, they offer a great student discount on UNIDays, and their pens last a really long time! They annually offer a 3 for 2 back-to-school range as well, to help keep the costs down even more. Their 4 pack of pastel ballpoint pens retails for £8, however lasted me all the way into the middle of my second term at university, making them great value in the long run!

Flying Tiger is another excellent store for stationery if you are on the look out for notebooks. Nearly all of their notebooks are 100% recyclable, as they don’t come with plastic binding, or a plastic front and back cover, and aren’t packaged in cellophane wrapping. They sell for as little as £1 to £5, and come in a variety of sizes and designs. Their paper is also incredibly smooth, and I love how easily both my pens and pencils glide over the paper.

Finally, when it comes to folders, an essential for higher and further education, I highly recommend going to Wilko. They release beautiful lever-arch folders, with nice glossy finishes, that are strong and sturdy, and are not prone to tearing at the crease. I still own the ones I bought in the beginning of sixth form three years ago, and still use them at university today! They are all respectably priced as well, ranging from £1.75-£2.50. They are additionally sold, again, without the cellophane wrapping, making them more eco-friendly.
