Dear Past Me
Hi, I’m Thomas Heathwaite, you may know me from my articles covering environmental issues and nature gardening. Now I’ve finished A levels, I thought it would be interesting to see what I would have done in hindsight…
Why did I overwork? You should know not to from Y11 and yet you make the same mistake in Y12 and Y13. Did I learn? Nope. Then you wonder why you have mental break downs with the constant stress. Please reader… don’t overwork and listen to your body, if you do, your mental health and physical health will be better and you’ll focus better.
I wish I spent significantly more time playing with my sister, Charlotte, who shares a deeply special relationship with me and has helped me through good and bad. Kids at that age grow so fast, and yet I only realise how much I cherish her post A levels. Looking back, I wish when I spent time with her during A levels, that I did not find it a burden and was not constantly thinking “I’ve got X, Y and Z still to do”. I should have seen it as a break, but no I did not. Why not, (if only I knew…).
